Dream Generator

The Dream Generator is an interactive video installation that explores one's perception of time and memory through dreams.

Concept

The Dream Generator is an interactive video project that is meant to explore perception of time and memory through dreams. I was particularly struck by Robert Stickgold's dream studies, in which he concludes that dreaming is the mind's way of making free associations between our different memories.

How it works

I filmed thoughtful, personal moments of my typical day and then wrote a program that randomly overlays these different videos in openFrameworks. I then created an Arduino controller that allows a viewer to alter the color, speed and opacity of the videos, thus creating their own visual mash-up or "dream" from my memories.
